Happenings this week

Another week of fun is happening here on campus. On Sunday we welcomed 37 Astronomy campers to campus. This is one of our most sought-after high school institutes and we look forward to them enjoying an exciting week with us. As well we have our popular Engineering Day Camp for kids ranging from ages 6-9 in the morning group and ages 10-13 in the afternoon. We will end our summer the following week with our new Western Equestrian "Horsemanship" residential camp as well as our Art Day Camp and two sports Day Camps - Basketball and Tennis. We are still accepting applications for these three day camps; just visit our website for the online application link.

This is also our last week of Summer Ceramics Workshops and we have another week with our Downstate students.

For more information on upcoming events check out the Summer Calendar. If there is an event that you don't see listed please let us know ASAP so we can get it listed for you.

Tuesday Carillon Recital

The second recitalist of the Wingate Summer Carillon Recital Series (Tuesday, July 18) will be Tatiana Lukyanova. Tatiana taught organ and carillon at the St. Petersburg State University and served as carillonneur of the Peterhof Museum before moving to the US in 2012. Her varied program includes Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, Borodin's "Dance of the Polovetsian Maidens", and eight selections from four musicals including "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", "My Favorite Things", "If I Were a Rich Man", and "Chim Chim Cher-ee." The recital will run from 7 to 8 pm, rain or shine.

The Wingate Summer Series honors the first university carillonneur, Dr. Ray Wingate, professor of organ, who served as carillonneur from the arrival of the bells in 1937 until his death in 1968. The series is generously funded by the Margaret Merrill and Ray Winthrop Wingate Memorial Carillon Foundation. This summer's series is dedicated to Margaret Wingate Rase (1919-2016), president of the Foundation for 49 years.
