Anne Cornell, director of research and prospect management, leads efforts to identify and qualify new donors, track and manage existing donors, and oversees the donor visitation activity of gift officers in the division.

Anne has been employed at Alfred University for the past five years, first in Information Technology Services and subsequently in the Annual Fund Office.

Prior to coming to Alfred University, she worked as a project manager for Bakers of Jericho Hill, Alfred, as an engineer technician for the Frontier-Kemper/Flatiron Joint Venture, and as a field archaeologist for the Rochester (NY) Museum and Science Center.

Anne received a bachelor of arts degree from the State University of New York at Geneseo where she majored in anthropology and minored in U.S. history.

Amy was most recently director of the Women's Leadership Center (WLC) at the University. In her new position, she manages a portfolio of planned giving and major gifts prospects and donors, creating cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for each.

Amy received a bachelor of arts degree in political science, cum laude, from Wellesley College, Wellesley, MA. She subsequently earned a juris doctorate from the New York University School of Law and is a member of the New York, Pennsylvania, and federal bars.

Prior to her appointment as director of the WLC in 2005, Jacobson was a practicing lawyer for 10 years, most recently as a supervising attorney for Southern Tier Legal Services, where she assisted low-income clients with civil legal problems.

Amy, husband Dr. Allen Grove, professor of English at AU, and their children Nathan and Abigail, reside in Alfred where she has been active on the Board of Directors of the Alfred Montessori School and the Village of Alfred Housing Task Force. She also sits on the Village of Alfred Zoning Board of Appeals and is a member of the Board of Directors for Legal Assistance of Western New York.

She has taught courses in various fields at the University as well as within the Women's Leadership Academy, and has participated in the Careers in the Common Good Program offered by the Alfred University Career Development Center.


Ron VanOrmer

Ronald W. Van Ormer joined Alfred University’s Division of University Relations as a Major Gifts Officer in June 2007. In his new position, Van Ormer is visiting Alfred University alumni and friends to raise funds for the University.

Prior to joining AU, Ron was capital campaign director for The Arc of Steuben, responsible for developing a $4.5 million campaign for the agency. He previously was corporate development officer for Rocky Mountain PBS in Denver and manager of Corporate and Foundation Relations for Thunderbird-School of Global Management in Glendale, AZ.

He has also been International Programs manager and Corporate Programs coordinator at the University of Denver, and East Central European Scholarship Project coordinator for the State University of New York Research Foundation in Morrisville, NY.

A native of Cazenovia, NY, Ron received an associate’s degree from Tompkins-Cortland Community College, and completed a B.A. degree in International Studies from the University of Colorado in Boulder. He earned a master’s in Communications from the University of Denver. He lives in Corning with his wife and two children.

Lori Wellman identifies, cultivates, and solicits a significant portfolio of major gifts prospects in support of annual and capital priorities.

Lori was a regional director in the Office of Major Gifts and Regional Programs at the University of Rochester (NY). Prior to employment in Rochester, she was the associate director of regional advancement at Eastern Kentucky University, Richmond, KY, where she also managed regional assignments for Eastern Kentucky's capital campaign.

Lori is a graduate of Union College, Schenectady, NY, where she earned a bachelor of science degree in psychology with a minor in Japanese, as well as a master's degree in business administration. She has studied at Kansai Gaidai University in Osaka, Japan, and is fluent in Japanese.
