News Image Gerber ’07’s ‘Figurative Color’ will be displayed at Middlesex Community College 1/13/15

Clarissa R. Gerber’s “Figurative Color” will be on exhibit in the Pegasus Gallery and the Niche at Middlesex Community College, Middletown, CT, from Monday, Jan. 26 through Friday, March 6, 2015.

There will be a reception for the artist, a member of the AU Class of 2007, in the Pegasus Gallery Thursday, Jan. 29 from 6:7:30 p.m.

Buffalo artist Sczerbaniewicz ’95 in ‘High Strangeness’ exhibit 1/13/15

Buffalo artist Gary Sczerbaniewicz, AU Class of 1995, will have a solo exhibition, “High Strangeness,” at the Castellani Art Museum of  Niagara University, Niagara Falls, from Sunday, Jan. 25 through Sunday, May 3, 2015. There will be an opening reception on the first day of the exhibit from 2-4 p.m. Admission is free.

News Image Calling all AU women athletes! 1/09/15

Alfred University plans to highlight the role that the athletic experience played in women’s lives at AU and beyond. We are looking for stories and photos that illustrate the experience of women athletes at AU throughout the decades. This is a collaborative effort among AU’s Student Affairs, Athletics, Archives, and University Relations divisions. Plans include an online timeline and memory book, and will culminate in celebratory events at Homecoming 2015.

Smythe ’11 presents solo exhibit in Culver City, CA 1/08/15

Mark Moore Gallery, Culver City, CA presents “A Swollen Light Behind The Eye,” an inaugural solo exhibition in Gallery Two by contemporary ceramicist and sculpture artist, Meghan Smythe. Deriving inspiration from James Arthur Baldwin’s theory of dishonest sentimentality, the artist explores the process of recounted memory – as well as emotion's tendency to obfuscate motive.


Meghan is a member of the AU Class of 2011. Her exhibit runs through Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015. The gallery is open Tuesday-Saturday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. and by appointment.

Art by Michael B. Stevenson Jr., AU Class of 2011, is included in a mixed-media art exhibit being sponsored by the City of Gaithersburg, MD, through Monday, Jan. 19, 2015. The show, featuring pieces by five artists, is at the Activity Center at Bohrer Park, 506 S. Frederick Ave., Gaithersburg.
