"Girls: New Photography" will present the work of 12 women from The Contemporary Photographer class in the School of Art and Design at Alfred University’s College of Ceramics.

Asked to catalog trends in contemporary photography over the last five years, each student has developed a semester-long project based on one of the themes they identified. Exploring their immediate surroundings, following strangers, building digital worlds, staging rituals and mining the Internet for material are just some of the tactics each woman uses, investigating the language of the medium and challenging themselves conceptually. From color digital pictures to Polaroids to black-and-white fiber prints, these 12 women represent the diverse methodologies used in contemporary practice.

Exhibiting Artists: Ellen Bahr, Olivia Brum, Desiree Dong, Charlotte Garcia-Ryan, Ally Haraty, Caitlin Langendorf, Amelia Maslen, Stephanie Mistark, Erin Murphy, Allyson Perkins, Victoria Anine Waples, Molly Westfall
