Teaching with Technology: Using the iPad

The CLAS Teaching and Learning Collaborative is sponsoring the upcoming faculty workshop
with Professors Jean Cardinale (Biology) and Chad Harriss (Communication Studies). This is open to all faculty.
Teaching with Technology: Using the iPad In and Out of the Classroom
Friday, March 29 from 12:20-1:10 p.m.
218 Perlman Hall
This workshop focuses on providing an overview of iPad tablet computing technology. Jean Cardinale and Chad Harriss will discuss the ways they have used iPads in preparing for and teaching classes. They will highlight some of the uses and some of the limitations associated with using these technological tools.
Existing tablet users are encouraged to bring their devices and share uses that they have discovered. Those without tablet devices but who are interested in exploring how iPads or tablets might be used to support their teaching are encouraged to bring their questions and ideas.
All faculty welcome.

Exhibition of New-realism Paper-cuts
(All Day)
18 pieces of new-realism paper-cuts will be exhibited in the east wing of the first floor in the Herrick Library from Friday, March 29 to Thursday, April 4.
Mr. Min Li, the representative new-realism paper-cuts artist, mixes Western painting and traditional Yuxian techniques (one of the most distinctive traditional paper-cuts arts in China). It initiates a new field which has clear concave-convex, bright colors and 3-dimension perspective. Every product is uniquely designed, measured and practiced by hand.
This exhibition is sponsored by Confucius Institute at Alfred University and it is free to the public.
Zombie Apocalypse Marathon Pre-Registration

Do you have what it takes to survive the zombie apocalypse? This is your chance to put your skills to the test and find out! Envision running for your life through zombie infested trails and facing unforeseen obstacles. Only few can outlast the zombie infection and reach safety. The real question is: Are YOU a survivor?
Pre-registration ($10) will be open through April 19 on the My Alfred webpage. Registration will also be available at the event ($15) from 1-1:45 p.m. Funds raised will be donated to a charity of the Winner’s choice.
