Lady Saxons handle College of New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Alfred University women's basketball team whipped host College of New Rochelle, 85-16, Sunday afternoon.

AU (7-7, 1-4 Empire 8) led 38-12 at the half and outscored the hosts 47-4 after intermission. Alfred forced 47 turnovers, outrebounded New Rochelle, 44-33, and had 20 assists.

Junior point guard Lyndsay Murphy (Almond, NY/Hornell) had 21 points and four assists and made nine of 13 shots, including three of five from three-point range. Sophomore guard Christina Jordan (Cornwall-on-the-Hudson, NY/Cornwall) and senior guard Lisa Button (Troupsburg, NY/Jasper-Troupsburg) had 13 and 12 points, respectively, and senior forward Danielle Cooper (Reading, PA/Reading) had a game-high 12 rebounds. Junior guard Courtney Lincoln (Waterloo, NY/Waterlolo) dished out a game-high five assists.

Tiffany Mann scored 10 of her team's 16 points to pace New Rochelle.

AU is in action next on Friday, Jan. 22, at 6 p.m. at Stevens.
