Lady Saxons fall to visiting Ithaca

ALFRED, NY – Visiting Ithaca defeated the Alfred University women’s basketball team, 74-41, Friday evening at the McLane Center.

Ithaca held a 26-14 lead at the half as the Bombers shot 29 percent while holding AU to 19 percent shooting. Ithaca (16-4, 11-0 Empire 8) made 53 percent of its shots after intermission in outscoring AU, 48-27, in the second half. For the game, Ithaca shot 42 percent to 27 percent for the Saxons and held a 47-28 rebounding advantage.

Senior forward Alysha Dias (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) and junior guard Lyndsay Murphy (Almond, NY/Hornell) each scored eight points to pace Alfred (9-11, 3-8 Empire 8). Junior guard Courtney Lincoln (Waterloo, NY/Waterloo) added six points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Lindsay Brown netted 12 points to lead Ithaca. Riley Dunn had nine points and five rebounds and Katherine Bixby chipped in with eight points and six boards.

Alfred is in action next on Tuesday, Feb. 9 at St. John Fisher.
