Student theater production team honored at 2010 regional Kennedy Center Festival

The Alfred University student theater production team received an “Honorable Mention Award” as runner-up to the “Golden Hand Truck Award” at this year’s Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) 2010 hosted at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. The award is given to the team with the safest and most expedient load-in and load-out.

Alfred University’s production of “Widows” was selected for performance Jan. 12-16. “Widows” was selected from among entries from Region 2, which includes colleges and universities from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. This marks the third time in the last five years that AU has been invited to perform, and four years out of the last 10.

Students were recognized for their ability to work together on a complicated set and with good spirits. Also commended were Zach Hamm, technical director, Performing Arts, and Marketa Fantova, assistant professor of theater design, who oversaw the technical matters of the production.
