3/08/13

ALFRED, NY -- Jon Jackson (East Amherst, NY/Bishop Timon-St. Jude), a senior at Alfred University, worked out for NFL scouts at the University at Buffalo’s Pro Day on Tuesday.

Scouts for several NFL teams were at the Pro Day, during which five former UB players worked out. Jackson performed the 40-yard dash, standing broad jump, vertical jump, bench press and several other physical tests.

“It was a great opportunity for him. There were a lot of pro scouts there,” said AU head football coach Dave Murray.

Jackson had 57 tackles (three for loss) to go with a team-leading six interceptions for the Saxons in 2012. He also rushed 14 times for 147 yards and two TDs. He is a two-time Empire 8 all-star, earning First Team honors last fall and Second Team honors in 2011. He also earned D3football.com Second Team East Region honors in 2012.

The Saxons finished the 2012 season with a 6-4 record (5-2 Empire 8).
