Utica downs Men’s Lacrosse, 13-5

UTICA, NY — The Alfred University men’s lacrosse team fell on the road to Utica College in a 13-5 decision, Saturday afternoon. This loss puts AU at 6-3 on the season and 0-3 in the Empire 8.

Utica established a 10-2 lead at the half, giving them the advantage for the game, although Alfred matched their three goals in the second half.

Senior defender Jake Spadoni (Webster, NY/Webster-Schroeder) caused a game-high five turnovers, and picked up a team-high five groundballs. Junior defender Chris Tauterouff (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) also scooped up four ground balls and caused three turnovers.

Junior midfielder Ben Demarco (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown) notched two goals to lead the Saxons in scoring.

Senior Justin Becker (Conesus, NY/Livonia) played the first 40 minutes of the contest and made 11 saves before sophomore Cody O’Connor (Whitney Point, NY/Whitney Point) took over for the remaining 20 minutes and made three saves

AU continues Empire 8 conference play against Nazareth College on Wednesday, April 10, at 4 p.m.
