Saxon outdoor track and field teams compete at Muhlenberg
ALLENTOWN, PA – The Alfred University men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams competed Saturday at the Muhlenberg College Invitational. There were no team scores, but several Saxon athletes turned in solid performances.
Senior Chris Lopez (Rochester, NY/Pittsford Sutherland) had two top-10 finishes for the AU men, while sophomore Miasia Hillman (Buffalo, NY/Hutch Tech) had a pair of top-10 finishes for the Saxon women. Lopez was second in the long jump (6.89 meters) and eighth in the 100-meter dash (11.41 seconds). Hillman took seventh in the 100 meters (13.39) and ninth in the 200 meters (27.36).
Other top performers for the Alfred men were: sophomore Sean Locker (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post West), fifth in the javelin (50.82 meters); junior Mykel Ferguson (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia), third in the high jump (1.80 meters); senior Randy Brito (New York, NY/Cardinal Hayes), fifth in the 400-meter hurdles (58.39); junior Jason Osborne (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool), fifth in the shot put (13.22 meters); freshman Joe Duermeyer (Corfu, NY/Pembroke), eighth in the shot put (12.79 meters); sophomore Nolan Rummel (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park), eighth in the 800-meter run (1:59.60); and freshman Gregory Matos (Bronx, NY/International Support Prep), 10th in the triple jump (11.84 meters).
The team of freshman Ethan Foster (Bolivar, NY/Bolivar-Richburg), Locker, senior Shane Stadtmueller (Red Creek, NY/Red Creek) and junior Eddie Potter (Lansing, NY/Lansing) placed fourth in the 4X800-meter relay (8:45.17).
Junior Liz DeMonte (Melville, NY/Walt Whitman) was second in the women’s high jump (1.58 meters). Other top performers for the AU women were: senior Kelly-Jo Beck (York, NY/York), 11th in the discus (31.00 meters); senior Kari Blatz (North Babylon, NY/North Babylon), 11th in the shot put (9.78 meters); sophomore Tracie Forrester (Gainesville, NY/Letchworth), eighth in the 800-meter run (2:29.29); and senior Jordyn Larkins (Rochester, NY/Harley-Allendale-Columbia), 12th in the 100-meter dash (13.39) and 200-meter dash (27.75).
The AU men’s and women’s teams are in action next on Saturday, April 13, at the Westminster College Invitational.
