Chinese scholar introduces students to solar simulator lab
Visiting Chinese scholar Jihua Liu recently introduced his Alfred University (AU) electrical engineering students to multilayer solar cells using the Inamori School of Engineering’s newly installed solar simulator laboratory.
Liu is a visiting professor from Shanghai University of Engineering Science, China. He recently assisted Xingwu Wang, AU professor of electrical engineering, in the installation of new solar simulators in the lab, which will allow testing and experimentation with solar cells at all times and under any conditions.
Liu discussed his research in the development and use of CZTS (copper, zinc, tin, and sulfur) films in solar cells. Liu and his associates are in the process of conducting research and experimentation with microwave-assisted methods of preparing less expensive and more efficient CZTS films.
