Fisher tops Men’s Lacrosse, 14-5

PITTSFORD, NY — The Alfred University men’s lacrosse team lost a 14-5 decision to St. John Fisher, Saturday afternoon.

St. John Fisher outscored the Saxons 9-2 in the first half and 6-2 in the second half to give them the Empire 8 victory, despite the 39-29 shot advantage Alfred held over them.

Senior attacker Matt Zon (Tonawanda, NY/Sweet Home) led AU with two goals.  Junior attacker Brett Carroll (Buffalo, NY/Bishop Timon-St. Jude) and sophomore midfielder Nicolas Wood (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) each netted a goal apiece. Carroll and senior defender Jake Spadoni (Webster, NY/Webster-Schroeder) (game-high four caused turnovers) each picked up a game-best five ground balls.

Senior Justin Becker (Conesus, NY/Livonia) started the first half and made two saves, while sophomore Cody O’Connor (Whitney Point, NY/Whitney Point) finished out the contest with five saves.

Alfred (7-5, 1-5 Empire 8) closes out the season against Hartwick College on Saturday, April 27, at 1 p.m.
