AU outdoor track and field teams compete at Fisher
PITTSFORD,NY-- The Alfred University men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams competed Saturday at the St. John Fisher College Invitational. There were no team scores.
The AU women’s team was led by junior Rebecca Graudons (Mayfield, NY/Mayfield) and sophomore Miasia Hillman (Buffalo, NY/Hutch Tech), who each won individual events. Graudons took the pole vault (3.55 meters) and Hillman won the 100-meter dash (12.79 seconds).
Other top-10 finishes for the AU women were turned in by sophomore Tracie Forrester (Gainesville, NY/Letchworth), third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (12:20.59); junior Chelsea Hall (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island), fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (16.13 seconds); junior Corine Pettit (Strykersville, NY/Holland), fifth in the triple jump (10.57 meters); and sophomore Alyssa Goot (Cassadaga, NY/Fredonia), sixth in the javelin (29.57 meters).
Junior Isaiah Cassin (Candor, NY/Candor) and sophomore Sean Locker (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post West) paced the Alfred men. Cassin had a second-place finish in the high jump (1.98 meters), while Locker was second in the javelin (49.17 meters).
Also turning in top-10 performances for the AU men’s team were: senior Chris Lopez (Rochester, NY/Pittsford Sutherland), fifth in the long jump (6.84 meters) and sophomore Nolan Rummel (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park), ninth in the 400-meter dash (51.77 seconds).
Alfred’s men’s and women’s teams are in action next on Friday and Saturday, May 3 and 4, at the New York State Championships at St. Lawrence University.
