Ken Price ’59: ‘A Retrospective’
“Ken Price Sculpture: A Retrospective” is on display at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City, now through Sept. 22, 2013. The late Ken Price, AU Class of 1959, died Feb. 24, 2012, before this first museum showing in New York could take place. Known for innovative works that helped redefine contemporary sculpture by advancing the medium of clay beyond its traditionally assigned roles, this retrospective showcases the artist’s unique and groundbreaking approach to sculpture.
At the same time, The Drawing Center, New York City, is presenting “Ken Price: Slow and Steady Wins the Race,” a comprehensive survey of Ken’s works on paper, now through Aug. 18, 2013. Organized by the Albright-Knox Gallery, Buffalo, this show will be on view there from Sept. 27, 2013-Jan. 19, 2014, then move to the Harwood Museum of Art, Taos, NM, Feb. 22-May 4, 2014.
