AU volleyball team loses pair in second day of action at Keuka Tourament

KEUKA PARK, NY — The Alfred University volleyball team lost two matches Saturday in the second day of action at the Keuka College Tournament.Alfred (2-5) lost 3-2 to Alfred State (14-25, 25-20, 16-26, 25-16, 15-10) and 3-0 to Penn State Behrend (25-9, 25-10, 25-14).

 

In the match with Alfred State, AU was paced by senior Chelsea Hall (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) with 17 kills and 12 digs. Freshman Mary Lou Patnaude (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) had six kills and eight digs; senior Janelle Gallipeau (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) has 32 assists; and junior Taylor Kiernan (Patchogue, NY/Patchogue-Medford) had 19 digs.

 

Hall had seven kills and eight digs against Penn State Behrend; freshman Core’ Oppliger (Neuchatel, Switzerland/Lyce Jean-Peaget) had four kills and a block; senior Tara Barone (Derby, NY/Lake Shore) had 10 assists; and Kiernan had six digs.

 

Alfred is in action next on Wednesday, Sept, 11, at 7 p.m. when the Saxons host St. John Fisher in the Saxons’ Empire 8 Conference opener.
