Ceramic Arts Divsion, Clay Collective welcome whimsical artists, 'Claydies'
The Division of Ceramic Arts within the Alfred University School of Art and Design and the Alfred Clay Collective will welcome Claydies, the design collaboration of Karen Kjældgärd-Larsen and Tine Broskø, on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013 for a lecture at 11:15 a.m. in Binns-Merrill Hall 106/Room C. This event is open to the public free of charge.
Claydies was founded in 2000, the same year that both Kjældgärd-Larsen and Broskø graduated from the Danish Design School.
Through collaboration and eclectic design processes, the Claydies create whimsical, unique pieces, each carrying its own story. According to the Claydies website, “It is a ping pong process, in which we [the artists] are always hunting good ideas. Sometimes we wear our bowls on a catwalk….and sometimes we work blindfolded. We strive always to renew ourselves and make ceramic design that matters. That is to have fun and give fun.”
