'America's Got Talent' star to perform in Knight Club
On Friday, Sept. 27, Dani Shay, a versatile singer/songwriter/actress/speaker, will be performing at Alfred University (AU) at 8 p.m. in the Knight Club, Powell Campus Center. The event is open to the public and is free of charge.
Shay’s first national appearance was in 2011 when she sang “What the Hell” on the sixth season of the television program “America’s Got Talent.” Her comedic songs and Justin Bieber look-a-like style won over audiences as she went on to appear on Oxygen network’s “The Glee Project 2”.
Shay uses softness and strength – pop melodies with punchy breakdowns – to deliver clever messages in a heartfelt way. Her latest music video, “One” was released in December 2012. “One” premiered with the Grammy-Award-winning band, FUN, and their LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning) organization, The Ally Coalition. Shay is currently touring with a pro-love, anti-bullying movement called the Be More Heroic campaign.
Shay’s performance is brought to AU by the collaboration of three student organized clubs; Alfredian Dramatists, SAGE (Students Advocating Gender Equality), and Spectrum (gay/straight alliance).
