Designer/alumna sends invite to ‘Glass Pumpkin Fest’
One of the lead designers at West Dearborn, MI’s Glass Academy, Michelle Plucinsky, AU class of 1993, writes: “A full harvest of glass pumpkins is ready for picking during the Glass Academy’s 5th Annual Glass Pumpkin Fest Show and Sale on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 19 and 20. Live glass-blowing demonstrations will take place both days from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., allowing customers to commission that one-of-a-kind glass pumpkin that they have always wanted."
Throughout the studio will be hundreds of original glass pumpkins and fall leaves designed and handmade at the Glass Academy, 25331 Trowbridge, West Dearborn; admission is free for all ages.
“The pumpkins for sale at the Glass Academy are all very original and unique in their color pattern and shapes,” said Michelle. “Our pumpkins have a following so every year we make up new fun designs and colors. This year we’ve added some crooked pumpkins along with some glass leaves to the mix to accentuate the pumpkins people already have collected." 2013’s feature is the "Van Gogh" pumpkin, which will feature natural tans, creams, and whites in a swirled effect on the pumpkin with some metallic reflections mixed in.
Customers may prefer shopping at the preview party, Thursday, Oct. 17 from 5-8 p.m., which requires a paid ticket. Tickets for the preview evening include food; cost is $50 and can be purchased online at www.GlassAcademy.com or by calling the studio at 313.561.4527.
