AU/ASC team to challenge Wizards in charity basketball game
The second annual AIDS Charity Basketball game between the Harlem Wizards and the Alfred StUn is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 2 at 5 p.m. in the McLane Gym at Alfred University (AU). Tickets for the event are $5 may be purchased online at http://culturalunity.org/aidscharity; children under age 4 will be admitted free of charge.
The Harlem Wizards will visit the AU campus to showcase spectacular basketball talent with comedy and humor for all ages of fans. These athletes have mastered wild dunks and showcase extravagant ball-handling ability that can’t be seen in the NBA. The Wizards will face the Alfred StUn, a community team created from members of Alfred University and Alfred State, who will challenge the Wizards to drive a victory home for charity.
The event is sponsored by AU’s Umoja and Alfred State’s Ujima, the student organizations serving to promote racial and cultural unity at both campuses.
All proceeds from the 2013 AIDS Charity fundraising efforts will go to Trillium Health, which offers integrated, personalized primary and specialty care for diverse communities with locations in Rochester, Geneva, and Bath.
