ALFRED, NY -- Alfred University fans can pre-purchase tickets for the ninth annual "Courage Bowl," pitting Alfred University vs. St. John Fisher College, on Saturday, Nov. 16 at Growney Stadium on the Fisher campus. Tickets are currently available in the AU Athletic Department offices in McLane Center as well as at the next two home games on Nov. 2 and 9.
Due to the fact that all money raised by the Courage Bowl goes to Camp Good Days and Special Times, there are no complimentary tickets for the game. Tickets are $5 with cash and check payments accepted. The Athletic Department main office is open Monday-Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Tickets will be on sale until Tuesday, November 12th in Alfred and then the day of the game at St. John Fisher's box office.
Tickets can also be purchased at AU's home games vs. Salisbury (Nov. 2 at 12 noon) and Utica (Nov. 9 at 1 pm) under the tent prior to going through the main gates at Yunevich Stadium.
Founded in 1979 by Gary Mervis following the diagnosis of his daughter, Teddi, with a malignant brain tumor, Camp Good Days today provides residential camping programs and year-round recreational and support activities and events. Since its founding, Camp Good Days has served more than 44,000 campers from 22 states and 28 foreign countries. The Camp Good Days Courage Bowl was established in 2005 as the annual football game between St. John Fisher and the University of Rochester, to benefit the children and families served by Camp Good Days.
Last year’s game was the final contest in the series between Fisher and Rochester. After Fisher plays AU in this year's contest, the Cardinals will play SUNY Brockport in future Courage Bowl games. Brockport joins the Empire 8 Conference as a football affiliate member in 2014.
Courage Bowl IX will be broadcast live on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel, and will be carried live on SportsRadio 950 ESPN and WLEA-AM 1480 in Hornell.
