AU football team to host Cortland in ECAC bowl championship game
ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University football team will host SUNY Cortland in an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) bowl championship game on Saturday, Nov. 23.
The Saxons (7-3) will play Cortland (6-4) at 1 p.m. in the ECAC North Central Bowl Championship. It marks the 10th straight year the Saxons have played in the postseason: ECAC bowl games from 2004-08 and 2011-13 and NCAA championship tournament berths in 2009 and 2010.
Alfred last played Cortland in an NCAA championship tournament second-round game in 2010, beating the host Red Dragons, 34-20.
AU is coming off a 48-13 loss at St. John Fisher in the Saxons’ regular season finale on Saturday. Cortland defeated 20th-ranked Ithaca 28-24, also on Saturday.
