'Post Present': glimpse of future senior/master's show works

There will be an opening reception for “Post Present,” a collection of student artwork from the School of Art and Design, Division of Sculpture Dimensional Studies at Alfred University, Friday, Dec. 6, from 6-8 p.m., at the Old Post Office, 50 Seneca St., Hornell. The reception, including refreshments and snacks, is sponsored by St. Ann’s Academy, Hornell, and is open to the public.

The exhibition will be open through Tuesday, Dec. 10, from noon-5 p.m. daily.

The title of the show, “Post Present,” describes this display as a jumping off point, as well as practice, leading up to the students’ senior and master thesis shows in May 2014. Works by two second-year graduate students and 18 senior students is represented in the show.

The exhibit consists of unique, conceptual works which include an array of different materials ranging from ice sculptures to video projections. Other pieces include printmaking and compositions of forest matter, glass, metal, woods, fabric, and clay. Students have also made extra works which will be on sale throughout the exhibition.
