Alumna brings ‘signature’ glass heads to Dallas gallery
Craighead Green Gallery’s 2014 premiere show features new works by glass artist Pearl Dick, AU Class of ’98. Pearl will be on hand for an opening reception at the Dallas, Texas gallery along with the other two featured artists Saturday, Jan. 11 from 5-8 p.m. The exhibition will be on display through Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014.
Pearl is a resident of Chicago and is the artistic director of Ignite Glass Studios where she continues her artistic practice along with the development of education and outreach programs. Her work at Craighead, titled “Reflection,” is a group of sculptures that are a study of society and an understanding of how one measures success.
Her hand-blown “signature” glass heads represent every person. Expressions are detailed but still maintain intimacy. She hopes that everyone will be able to see themselves in this collection and be able to reflect upon how different we all are but at the same time, at a glance, how we are all the same. She says: “These pieces came into being through my desire to look at who I am right now and in doing that, to reflect on who I am striving to become.”
Craighead Green Gallery is at 1011 Dragon St., Dallas. The gallery is open Mondays from noon-5 p.m.; Tuesdays through Fridays 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Saturdays from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information call 214.855.0779 or visit www.craigheadgreen.com
