AU ceramic technology expert joins state business networking group as adviser
Barry Watkins, deputy director of the Center for Advanced Ceramic Technology at Alfred University (AU), has joined the FuzeHub team as an industry and technology adviser.
FuzeHub is an initiative that works to better connect New York’s small and mid-sized manufacturing companies to the resources, programs, and expertise they need for technology commercialization, innovative solutions, and business growth. FuzeHub networking experts respond to all company requests within 24-48 hours.
Watkins is a seasoned business development professional with more than 30 years’ experience working with diverse products and technologies. He joined the AU staff in December 2010. On campus he works building partnerships among AU researchers, NYS companies, and government officials to promote technology transfer and economic development in the state.
A native of Plymouth, England, Watkins studied mechanical engineering at Plymouth and Devonport Technical College. After five years’ service in the Royal Navy, he pursued a career in technical sales.
Prior to immigrating the United States in 1986, Watkins was president and founder of Industrial and Marine Acoustics, a distributor of noise control and monitoring equipment manufactured in the United States and Europe. Before joining the Alfred University staff he was associate director for business development at the University of Rochester’s Center for Electronic Imaging Systems.
