Alfred University’s 2024 MostArts Festival will feature a performance by musician Dennis James of Addison, NY, renowned in the world of classical music for his presentations of the works of composer Peter Schickele, inventor of the fictional 18th-century composer P.D.Q. Bach.

A fruit and vegetable garden on the south edge of the Alfred University campus is buzzing with activity, as students have been working since March to turn a weed-filled, overgrown lot into a place of vibrant growth and reflection.

Alfred University’s motto, “Fiat Lux!”—which translates from Latin to “Let There be Light!”—was changed slightly last weekend, when the Village of Alfred and the two institutions of higher education which call Alfred home, Alfred University and Alfred State College, marked the 50th anniversary of the village’s lone traffic light.
