SaraBeth Post Artist Talk

Black Glass Artists' Series

Public Demonstration Hot Glass Shop 9am-11am; Public Talk Binns Merrill Hall B106 5-6pm

SaraBeth Post is an interdisciplinary artist primarily utilizing glass in sculpture, utilitarian wares, and jewelry. She earned her BFA in Glass + 3D Studios from the University of Louisville. Her studies of pattern & color pave a path to explore human development juxtaposed to spirituality. Her production line is produced under the name Ultra Lit, a pen name coined as a reflection on her navigation in the world as a mixed race light-skinned woman.

In 2021 Alfred University student Adeye Jean-Baptiste proposed an artist series with glass artists who hail from the afro diaspora. Finding support from the SOAD, the Sculpture Dimensional Studio Division, Student Senate, and Olympic Color in Seattle the proposal has become a reality with the series starting in the first week in February 2022. The Artists from across the US will share their expertise and knowledge of glass making by leading workshops and doing public talks about their own work. A fundraiser was held in October of 2021 and raised $5000 to support the artist series. Each Artist will be in residence for a week and will create an original work to be exhibited at The School of Art and Design as a part of The United Nation’s International Year of Glass.
