Summer Workshop Lecture Series // Yougmi Lee and Gwendolyn Yoppolo

Yougmi Lee and Gwendolyn Yoppolo will be holding presentations in Binns Merrill Hall, Room C on Thursday, June 27th at 4:30pm.

Youngmi Lee is currently Assistant Professor of Ceramic Art at Hong-ik University in Seoul, Korea. She received a BFA in the Ceramics Department at Hong-ik University of Fine Arts in 1995 and an MFA in Ceramics at Hong-ik University of Industrial Arts in 1998. In 2003 she received an MFA in Sculpture form the Central Institute of Fine Arts in Beijing China, and in 2007 a PhD in Art History from Tsingha University of Fine Arts in Beijing China. Youngmi was awarded 2nd prize in the 1st Kaolin China International Ceramic Art Competition in 2011 and 2nd Prize in the 9th National Ceramic Design Creation Competition, China in 2010.

 

A passionate educator, writer, and researcher as well as a studio artist, Gwendolyn Yoppolo is currently serving as Associate Professor of Ceramics at Kutztown University.  She has earned an MFA in Ceramics from Penn State University, an MA in Education from Columbia University, and a BA in Sociology from Haverford College.  She creates vessels that engage with us physically but allude to intangible aspects of existence and challenge us to rethink the ways we nourish ourselves and others.
